You may have come across this widely used proverb at least once in your life: “don’t judge a book by its cover.” While the focus here is on books, this proverb can easily apply to several different things because it quite simply means, don’t judge something based on its appearance. When applying this proverb to people, it leads us to many common stereotypes. So, what are stereotypes? They’re fixed ideas or notions about certain people or things that aren’t always true. For example, not all jocks are aggressive and unintelligent, just like not all rich people are lazy and condescending.
