I quickly put together the Flashback scene to help the reader understand why Brandon ran off and to show that he has reasons for why he behaves and reacts the way he does. Plus the information revealed is built on later in the story. I wouldn't be violent just for the sake of violence nor to bring a shock value. Oh yeah - Suck a D!ck you meany!
