My headcanon for this situation is that the sky was so dark in the morning and literally everyone in the village was like damn it's gonna be a stormy one today, apart from Mallory, who got out of bed SO late and purposefully didn't wear a coat because she knew she'd have to gay walk so fast to get to the chapel on time and she didn't want to get sweaty. In the end she regretted all her choices.
