About a year ago, I wrote my senior thesis on the importance of platonic relationships in media for people who faced childhood trauma. One article I read discussed how parents teach children how to emotionally regulate, but children who are facing crises or whose parents do not know emotional regulation skills don't learn how to calm down without outside help.
