Due to all the thermal activity in Iceland, there are times when the smell of sulfur appears - especially when using the water, which is typically heated via thermal power. Since the naturally-occurring hot springs are also heated the same way, they often contain fumes that smell a bit like rotten eggs. But it's usually not too bad, and I found there are often nice scents around to mask them.
