One of the hardest things to explain in fiction is magic systems. As readers, we already have preconceived notions from other fictional magic systems, and it’s difficult to shake off tropes and common ideas to explain something entirely new. In TMP, magic is simply a type of energy that originates from one realm, and only the organisms of that world have evolved to use it.
