Another common name for the Wise Men are "Magi"- a Greek term that denotes a magician, or astronomer. A big thing that I take away from this is that the Lord chose to reveal His incarnation to Gentiles, and prior to this He revealed Himself to lowly shepherds. In both instances, we can see the Lord's love is expansive and includes all people, no matter their social class or background. Amen :)
