I start off this story with the last chapter of the last book of the Old Testament, Malachi. Chronologically, Malachi represents the last revelation that the Jewish people receive from God for hundreds of years... It is a promise of judgement, but also of coming salvation. The mention of Elijah also becomes important to the story of Jesus as will be seen later.
