Yeshua, Iesous, Jesus. Though the spelling of the name depends on the language, the meaning is the same. God Saves. Jesus also shares His name with a hero from the Old Testament; Joshua, son of Nun, right hand to Moses. The law, like Moses, led people up to the edge of the Promised Land but could not take them further. Jesus, like Joshua, leads us on into the reality of all of God's promises.
