Orón is a young inhabitant of Ninive, Mesopotamia. She loves nothing as much as sneaking into forbidden places, but when the annoys the city guards once too often, she is forced to follow meditation classes at the School of Gods. Not only is this boring to death, but her fellow students are some dumb rich kids. Gods are nice, in general, especially Adad who blows cool tornados, but why are there more and more of them? And why is the goddess Ishtar furious against everyone?
