Biomechanical weapon ethics get kinda weird. The general consensus is that they're not true animals, and thus shouldn't be treated like animals. But since they can produce some of the hormones associated with feelings and can react to things on their own, the general consensus is that they're weapons that you should treat nicely and take care if you don't want them to bite your hand
