Although this comic contains many anachronisms, "Around the World in 80 Days" (a book I loved as a kid) was published in 1872 in France. A Russian language edition followed in 1873, so it's very likely someone like the Boyar might have it in his library in 1881. Author Jules Verne, however, was neither a rabbi nor a Talmudic scholar. That's simply sarcasm :)
