If you're unfamiliar, people get dressed up in costume for Purim (i.e. Jewish Halloween). The costumes depicted here are historically accurate. Next, the idea of "Jewish pride" didn't exist for these people. Like Rivke's necklace, it's an anachronism for thematic reasons. Finally, the way Rivke sits in synagogue was my move at 14... except I'd hide an earbud in my sleeve to listen to Nirvana.
