"Anna Karenina" was published in 1873, eight years before this story takes place. However, it seems the book wasn't translated into Yiddish (what Rivke would have spoken at home) until 1929. However, as she can speak and read Russian too (unusual, but some girls could if they were taught), my sense was to keep the language issue simple and not worry about it.
