In the U.S., returning items is so easy that American falks tend to buy things without hesitation—only to return them right away. Japanese folks rarely return items, so they take their time carefully selecting products. French folks often ask if it’s okay to enter a store. When I asked them why, they said that in France, it’s considered rude to enter a store if you don’t intend to buy anything.
