Alex, an American college student in Japan, develops feelings for his language exchange partner Hiro, but is unsure of Hiro's feelings. Hiro's friend Takumi is jealous of Alex. With encouragement from a friend, Alex confesses his feelings and Hiro reciprocates. They have a secret long-distance relationship but are strained when Alex has to return to the US. Alex returns to Japan and they come out to their friends and family. Their love has grown stronger despite the challenges they faced.
