Azriel has heard stories of the surface world, tales of furred beasts roaming the land, bi-pedal creatures called Humans occupying most of it, and he has always wanted to see it. it seemed so much more lively than the deafening silence he lived in down in The Abyss, the deepest part of the ocean. When Azriel gets the chance to see it all, he takes it. but it doesn't come at a small price. To live as a human, he must give up the one thing he values most, his heart.
