We rarely fight about the situation, but instead how it affects our core values and fears. The fear of being temporary, abandoned, or even "not being good enough" is very potent for some, while being completely unrelated to others - and that's okay. We see life through our own prism and through our own trauma, however, being able to communicate that, is a mark of a healthy friend/relation-ship.
