CTC takes place on a flat world named Topis with ruling gods and magic, but 90s level technology. Living among humans are the 3 shape-shifting "Vampiric Species:" bats, cowbirds, and spiders. We follow Caine Killian, a wide-eyed enthusiastic bat kid with a habit of trusting the wrong people; Thaddeus Lance Masters, a womanizing cowbird who doesn’t trust anyone; and Conner Mungkhoru, a antisocial reclusive spider who would rather read books and sleep than interact with anyone.
