Ascendant is a fantasy story that draws heavily from Chinese culture and folklore. The story follows the journey of Hao, the crown prince and eldest child of the Azure king. His disdain towards his royal obligations led many to think that his younger brother Teng would be a better king. As a result, a trial was conducted to see who is more suitable for the throne. Amidst this, the humans living in the bowels of the Azure kingdom is scheming for a revolution.
